The agreement signed on the 27th of May 2019, was to integrate 42maru's Machine Reading Comprehension (MRC) based Question Answering (QA) system and AI chatbot technology into Lenovo's smart devices. The goal is to provide an innovative user experience through an AI chatbot technology that would be able to deliver accurate and appropriate information. The technology will determine the correct, expected response through the use of machine learning-based AI and an internal Q&A system that is capable of reading documents directly and answering with the influence of the AI program.
Lenovo is the world's No. 1 company in the PC industry. To maintain their lead, they have been actively investing in new smart devices in the various industries to improve the way people live, all by investing in and leveraging smart technologies such as AI and the Internet of Things (IoT). To push this vision forward, last year the company introduced a standalone VR headset 'Lenovo Mirage Solo', a 360-degree camera 'Mirage Camera' for exclusive content production. At this year's CES, the company again showed its commitment to innovation by releasing various smart devices such as 'Lenovo Smart Clark' and 'Lenovo Smart Tab.
42maru is a technology startup that develops a deep semantic QA platform that accurately understands the user's intentions and derives the single correct answer from a vast library of unstructured data. Semantic search for enterprises, deep learning-based interactive chatbots, and smart speakers are the fruitful result of collaboration with various companies including Lenovo.
Kang Yong-Nam said, “With this agreement, it is expected that the convenience of enterprises and consumer customers using Lenovo's smart devices will be more enhanced if the artificial intelligence technology of 42maru is integrated and applied. We will continue to challenge innovation and lead the cooperation to improve the customer experience.”
"We are happy to have the opportunity to combine 42maru’s artificial intelligence-based Q & A chatbot solution with innovative smart devices such as AR and VR devices," said Dong-Hwan Kim, CEO of 42maru. Adding that “I will try to widely implement AI technology in the field.”
